Summer Break Self - Care Tips for Teachers:

Now, this was a year to remember! As we close out this very exhausting post-covid school year filled with numerous challenges, it is important that teachers take time for some well-deserved self-care. Taking the time to “Treat YO Self” during the summer months will allow you to feel refreshed and renewed by the time fall comes around.

Here are a few self-care suggestions:

1. UNPLUG - coming off a hybrid or a heavy google classroom teaching model, we know all teachers were glued to their laptops, cell phones, emails, calendars, and grade books all year! TURN IT OFF! Set summer boundaries, and check email 1x per week (as necessary).

2. SPA DAY - grab your work wife/hubby and hit up the local spa; massages, facials, pedicures…. Let the staff perform an educator’s exorcism by removing the school year stress from your body! (Some spas offer teacher discounts and monthly memberships).

3. DO SOMETHING CREATIVE - all year, you have been grading papers, reading books, answering emails, following a routine. Reclaim your creative juices! Paint, draw, create, redecorate! The possibilities are endless, and summer is a great time for mini makeover projects around the house or in your classroom.

4. TRAVEL - most of you stared at a computer screen all year or hid behind plexiglass to keep your students safe. Switch it up; you could benefit from a change of scenery! Hop on that plane, soak up the sun, feel the sand under your feet! You deserve to relax, unwind, and let loose!

5. YOGA - is a fantastic way to find your center and relax. Practicing yoga helps individuals with their flexibility, sleep patterns, stress management, and helps ease arthritis symptoms. If a local studio is not in your reach, utilize free online resources to learn some basic flows to get your body moving.

7. Binge Watch TV - Some top must-see TV selections are - Stranger Things, Schitt's Creek, Cobra Kai, Workin' Moms, The Chair, and Bridgerton. Grab some Skinny Pop and relax!

 Important teacher takeaways!

It’s important to take the time during summer to relax and recharge while focusing on your mental health. Switch up your daily routines and treat yo self! Recharge that battery because September will be here before you know it!
